Preparations, Health Intake, and Liability Waiver
Preparing for your Kambo ceremony.
DIET: In terms of dietary preparations for Kambo, there is no special diet but you must have an empty stomach when you arrive. You will need to fast for 8 hours prior to ceremony and NO LIQUIDS at least 2 hours prior to the session. This is very important. It's best to avoid alcohol and heavy processed foods for at least 24 hours before your ceremony.
WHAT TO BRING: Wear something loose and comfortable, no restrictive clothing. It's a good idea to bring a change of pants and a towel in case you have a purge that decides to travel south and you don't make it to the bathroom in time. This is uncommon, but does exist within the realm of possibility.
Feel free to bring any offerings or special objects to keep on the altar during the ceremony.
AFTER CARE & INTEGRATION: It's hard to predict exactly how you'll feel after immediately after your session, although most people feel great and energized very shortly after treatment. Some people go right back to work the same day. Other times the medicine can continue to work through the rest of the day with some lingering symptoms. I recommend having anything having the day off so you can rest and integrate the experience.
Integration is a crucial, yet commonly overlooked part of any experience that we would call "deep work", like Kambo. Integration is how we move forward from an experience like Kambo by taking the lessons/shifts/changes and letting them "sink in", so to speak. It is about taking the blessings of the medicine and finding useful and positive ways of incorporating them into the rhythm of daily life. If you wish to pursue deeper integration work, my partner Alexa Iya Soro is a LMHC and offers personal integration counseling and life coaching sessions. If it's physical healing you need, we are blessed to have our dear friend and gifted massage therapist, Melodie Fallon LMT, offering discounted bodywork sessions less than 10 minutes away. There is a box at the bottom of this form to indicate if either of these offerings are of interest to you.
